Danielle Samantha Greenaway was born on October 11, 1980's in St.Thomas, Virgin Islands. She was the sixth of ten children born to Francis Gerad Greenaway and Jullian Lestrade. At age five, she started singing with the youth group of The Light House Revival Center Church; called the Young Inspirers, during which she traveled to Florida to perform at various concerts. From then on music became part of her life. She attended the Joseph Gomez Elementary school and sang under the conduction of Ms. Janet Rhymer and Mr.Brooks. She was then also part of the band under the conduction of Mr. Stephen Payne and Mr.Kelly Charleswell, where she played the flute. She was then promoted to the Bertha C. Boschulte Jr. High School, in which she sang with the chorus for a year in the alto section under the teachings of Mr. Gumbs in 1998. While being involved in so many activities musically, she was promoted to the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Concert Choir and Choraliers in 1999 under the teachings of Mrs. JoSandra Jones-James. She considers her high school years to be the years that impacted her life the most. During those years, she was involved in many extra curricular activities, music being the most frequent. Some of those activities included being a soloist for the IEKHS Jazz combo, singing first soprano in the IEKHS Choraliers and Concert Choir. Her first year in the Concert Choir and Choraliers, she acted as Serena the wife of Robbins in the Opera “Porgy and Bess” in 1999. In 2000, she wrote an original Blues, “Too Bad Blues”, which she performed at The Frenchman’s Reef with the Jazz Combo. She was a guest performer for various functions, and was elected as “Best Singer” for the IEKHS class of 2002. She was influenced by her private voice instructor, Mrs. JoSandra Jones-James, to enter into the Annual Classical Vitelco Music Competition in 2000 to 2002 for St.Thomas, St.John and St.Croix, where she won first place in both intermediate and advance categories. She enjoys working with kids teaching them songs and dances, and encourages them to strive for their goals in life. She was honored by Dion Parson in 2002 for the music award, and received six (6) scholarships in 2002 to attend the University of the Virgin Islands and Norfolk University for 4 years. In 2003, she was honored at the Frenchman’s Reef by Mrs. JoSandra Jones-James on behalf of the IEKHS Choraliers and Concert Choir from 1983-2003 for playing an outstanding part in the group. At the University of the Virgin Islands in UVI Christmas Concert in 2002, Amahl for “Amahl and the Night Visitors” at Reichold Center for the Arts. In 2004, she acted as Seibel for “An Evening at the Opera” for the Opera “Faust”. Presently, Danielle is an Alumni at the University of the Virgin Islands where she graduated in May 2008 pursing her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with a concentration in Voice. Her vocal instructors at the University were the following: Elvira Green, Lorna Freeman-Dennis, Ilca Lopez, Ms.Reyes, and Jennie Garcia Carmona. She performed for student recitals, concerts, musical afternoons, UVI functions, Churches, Weddings, local boat rides, hotels and also was a member of Imagination Brass, Pea Soup band from UVI,and Headline Band which is now XFactor Band(a member). She also did backup vocals or recorded for reggae artist such as Rafijah Siano, with songs like "My Child" Niyorah, Ickarus (To much of Gun play), Jahgon, Sirus,Kimbe Dan (I need your love), and other members of the Star Lion Family,Smokey B, with songs like "U Will Never Forget me", Jahman, Soljah (U get an Upgrade) and also song longside P’Your Passion, and Cool Session Band, and also performance with De Apostle from for the VI Idiol show and many more. Danielle is a member of the UVI Concert Choir in which she sings first soprano and a vocalist for the Jazz Band. Being involved in all these activites, she is a proud mother of three, Sanijah Destiny Gris, Rafijah Siano Gris, and Jazara Adaze Knight. The following people and organizations have contributed to help Danielle in pursuit of her educational goals. Rotary East, The Lions Club, St. Peter and Paul Classical Gala, Tillet Garden, Mrs.JoSandra Jones-James, Roma & Mack Farquhar, Keith Johnstone, Nicholas "Daddy" Friday and the Music Education majors. Most of all, her praises go out to the Lord God Almighty for bringing her this far in life. Presently she is a Music Teacher at the Julius E. Sprauve and Guy Benjamin Elementary school on St.John and plans to start her Master's program in Entertainment Business. Her mottos are "Practice makes perfect, don't worry about what anyone says and their negative thoughts. Plan your life and goals from now and never give up on your dreams and goals because one day God will see you through."
